A Tale of Two Cities
This past weekend, Education Across Borders took a meaningful step forward in our mission to bring education to children who are affected by war, especially those in Ukraine and other conflict zones. We traveled to Chiayi and Taichung to promote our non-profit, connect with local leaders, and explore ways to expand our reach!
One of the highlights was meeting with the Vice Mayor of Taichung and the Head of the Educational Department in Chiayi. I shared eXb's vision: creating short, accessible educational videos made by students, so that children in war-torn areas can continue their educational journeys, even when formal schooling is disrupted. Both leaders were supportive and agreed to help us promote the initiative to schools in their regions. It was a powerful reminder that when people believe in a cause, they're willing to help it grow. :)
At the same time, this weekend reminded me of an important truth: Rome wasn't built in a day. Building a non-profit from the ground up takes more than passion. It takes persistence, patience, and a whole lot of behind-the-scenes effort. For every meeting and milestone, there are so many hours of planning, outreach, and revising. There are setbacks, slow responses, and moments of doubt. But that's part of the journey, and I'm here for all of it.
We started with zero members, and now, we have over 30 students who signed up as Young Education Ambassadors. So, who knows how big an impact we can have one year from now?
I believe deeply in Education Across Borders, I believe how powerful it is to have students helping other students, and I believe that with continued hard work and support, we can create something that makes a lasting impact.
This weekend was only a step forward, and many more steps lie ahead. Let’s keep going!!
