Reaching Out!

Reach Out Club is where we help new students in our school feel a part of our community and fit in! Students are known as Reach Out Buddies to new students, and they guide them through school traditions, schedules, activities, and classes before the new school year begins. 

As President of the Reach Out Club at my school, one of the most meaningful parts of each school year is our orientation event for new students. This year's event was no exception, and it reminded me why this club matters so much, not just to new students, but to me personally. 

I joined TAS as a new student in ninth grade, and I remember exactly how it felt to walk onto campus for the first time, not knowing anyone and just trying to figure everything out. That experience is a big part of why I care so deeply about Reach Out Club. I know firsthand how much it helps to have someone say, "Let me show you around!" 

At orientation, our Reach Out Buddies helped incoming students navigate their first day. We gave tours, answered questions, and were the friendly faces we all needed at the start of a new school year. It's always a special moment to see nervous faces turn into smiling ones, and to know that we are making TAS feel a little more like home for someone else!!
