The Legend of the Children of Time: An Excerpt
The Legend of the Children of Time
A long, long time ago, there was a kingdom where humans, animals, and Siephriers lived peacefully together. The humans provided food and shelter; the animals provided entertainment; the Siephriers, however, were able to provide others with a very special skill: the ability to change time and reverse space. At first, everyone lived in harmony. There was no poverty, no discrimination; no violence. However, as many fables go, greed led to the downfall of the kingdom. Humans and animals demanded more and more from the Siephriers. The Siephriers were reluctant to complete their requests, yet they didn't want to lose their homes and families.
As days went by, the Siephriers became weaker and weaker. They were losing their powers, and as they collapsed, one by one, their leader was enough of all these unreasonable requests. He led a rebellion against the others. Nevertheless, it was not enough to defeat the humans and the animals. The Siephriers were forced into exile, never to return to their kingdom again. The Siephriers were extremely exasperated! How could they do such a horrible thing? So, in retaliation, they conducted a tremendously dangerous spell, casting the kingdom with the curse of never being able to experience time again, to forever live in a void of nothingness. That, however, wasn't the worst part. The second portion of the spell was that whenever the Siephriers used their powers again, the kingdom would be completely annihilated.
"Is this talking about us? Reading this legend did not make my mood any better... So is there any way for us to reverse the spell somehow?" I asked. The scientists stared at me blankly. "There is no way to reverse the spell, at least not any way we know," Dr. Riley answered.
