Water Rocket Science Fair

 Science Fair: Water Rockets

Dear readers,

I have exciting news! Some friends and I will be attending a national science fair around the end of May. We will be building a water rocket! So excited!

Okay, so What is a Water Rocket?

I did some research about it. It is basically a mini rocket that is powered by pumping pressure into the water, which would be inside the rocket (plastic bottle). The way a water rocket works is by filling it up partially with water and then pressurizing the inside with air. When the nozzle is opened the air pressure inside the bottle forces the water out of the nozzle at high speed, which makes the rocket shoot straight up. The water rocket works based on Newton's Third Law (the Law of Action and Reaction): when two bodies interact, they apply forces to one another that are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

Our Goals

In order for us to win the competition, we would have to make the rocket fly 80 meters toward the bullseye. I found out that the best direction for our water rocket to travel the farthest is at 45 degrees.

We got this!! Wish us luck! I will also keep you guys updated!😉
